Can't wait for next weekend

That pretty much sums up how I feel about our first Carnival races this year at Rumford, ME over this past weekend.  I think we have made a very solid start with a great deal of promise for the rest of the season.  Ben Knowles has shown that he has the form needed to be in the top 5, finishing 4th in the 10K Classic, and even though the 20K free didn't go to well, getting tangled up twice, he started well along with Wolcott and Zach and with just a little more luck things could have been quite different.  Same to be said for Wolcott who was with the front pack of 15, right up in front coming through at 10K, until also tripping up and losing contact around the 13K or 14K mark.   Zach will be coming off his best classic race of his career (17th) along with Wolcott (11th) so I think we can do very well over an entire weekend and not just in one discipline.  I also think Steve and Kyle are ready to step up and are poised for some top 30 finishes or better this season.
The women also had a very good opening weekend.  Kristen is coming into form and has the ability to be in the top 10 with 16th and 14th place finishes this weekend.  The womens field just seems to get faster and deeper over the past couple of years so even top 15 or top 30 is nothing to be dissapointed with.  Caroline and Johannah stepped it up for the 15K with 26th and 27th place with the top 25 only a second ahead.
The parents also came out in force this weekend.  It was great to see everyone and we should have some more great races to celebrate this season.  As always thank you for your help.

No posts from Quebec so here is Calvin

For some reason no one has been interested in making any posts while in Quebec, I did not go with the team to training camp for the reason pictured.  Calvin Theodore Townsend was born on January 4th a day before the team left for Quebec.  The team is returning Thursday the 15th to campus and classes will begin the following monday with the carnival season starting on the following weekend.  We begin this season with two long trips, one to Rumford, ME hosted by Bates College and then the following one to Jackson, NH hosted by UNH.  We are trying our best to start the season well rested  and healthy.  By all accounts the training in Quebec has gone well with fantastic conditions the entire time.  I am looking forward to rejoining the team and seeing all the parents at the races soon.
