Ethan, the Meng Dynasty and I are about to set off for Middlebuy this morning in preparation for NCAAs. The racing schedule begins Wednesday with the first alpine event, and from there alternates disciplines each day.
For us that means a 10k classic individual-start on Thursday, and the 20k mass-start freestyle on Saturday. Hopefully a large crew of fans, athletes and friends will make it out to each race! The 20k looks to be particularly awesome for spectating: right now weather is predicted to be mid-40s and sunny.
We've had a good week of preparation. Lots of lower volume and easy skiing, with one interval set earlier this week and a low-key time trial yesterday morning. The race was about 4k and only took between 12 and 13 minutes. The goal was to get in enough racing to rev up the engine, but not enough to create any serious fatigue. This week Meng, Ethan and I will train super-easy, with one more set of short intervals to put some final touches on speed for the races.
Sienna has been recovering from sickness with the goal of being ready for Junior Nationals in Fairbanks, Alaska at the end of this coming week. Temperatures there actually don't look too bad, either.
