Hey SLUSKI!!

I hope everyone's summer is going well! From the sounds of recent posts, training for most seems to be off to a great start! Summer in Old Forge is going well; however, trying to balance training and work proves to be more difficult than I previously thought. I can't complain though, so far working at Alger has been a sick summer job. Aside from dealing with an ancient and tempermental computer to register campers, most days I get to ride around in a boat, cleaning campsites and collecting day use fees.

So far, my training has been pretty routine and LONELY due to the fact that Pepper and I have work schedules that don't match up. However, my most recent adventure was hiking two of the high peaks, Algonquin and Iroquois with one of my friends from high school. With a little side adventure that left us bushwhacking through wilderness and a near death experience on a rock face, the hike ended up taking 11 hours! Due to the fact that my previous hiking background consisted of a whopping 30 minutes (round trip), it was safe to say I was physically BROKEN when we finally got back to the car. Even though I wanted someone to cart me around in a wheel chair for the next week, the views from the summits were amazing and made the long trip worthwhile!

I hope everyone gets some good adventures in before the start of school! I leave for France on August 30th, but if anybody wants to visit to Old Forge this summer feel free to drop by, my house is always open!

Train hard & enjoy the rest of vacation!!
