Rapids and trail running

The combination of warmer weather, lots of rainfall and crazy Adirondack snowmelt has left the rivers and lakes in New York flooding, raging and churning. Yesterday Ben, George and I set out to do some mountain biking at Seven Springs, but we stopped first to take some pictures of the massive rapids on the Raquette River in Colton. We ended up spending a few hours there just taking pictures and making a little video to show the cool trails along the river. We usually do longer trail runs here in the fall, but the water definitely makes it a cool spring visit.

Second Annual Alpine vs Nordic Softball game

In decisive fashion the Alpine team took game two of the annual Softball game to even the series at 1 all. It stayed even through the 4th inning at 1-1 and then Nordic fell apart defensively in the top of the 5th allowing the Piners to score 6 runs.
"Mental errors in the 5th really cost us big time, and the Alpine team capitalized, however we have some solid players on the team and I think we will be hungrier next spring," said Coach Townsend.
Coach Steinrotter and Flinn were talking revenge all week leading up to the game. "The Alpine team was rather surprised last year at the skill level of the Nordic team, we just weren't expecting it and the shellacking we took didn't sit well with the team," said Coach Steinrotter.
